Maddalena Jahoda

Maddalena Jahoda got her degree in Biological Sciences. She is an expert in the field of research and popular science.

Since 1987 she has been participating in whale surveys performed in different areas of Mediterranean Sea. Since 1990 he has been working in the Ligurian Sea, within the Mediterranean Fin Whale Project of Tethys. She has studied the common whale behaviour and developed a new method of passive tracking in order to control whale short-term reactions to human activities.

As an advertising journalist, since 1981 she has been working for several Italian newspapers in the naturalistic and scientific field. Now she is the responsible person for the communication department at Tethys research Institute.

She wrote many books - such as Le mie balene (Mursia, 2007). She translated the book The whales warriors by Peter Heller into Italian with the following title: I guerrieri delle balene (publishing house Corbaccio, 2008), focusing on Sea Shepherd activities. She has also worked for documentaries and participated in conferences, broadcasts and TV programs.
